I have been practicing massage therapy since 2008. I love helping people the way I do. I first thought that massage could only relax people and "melt away stress." Quickly I was shown the effects of therapeutic massage on both a physical and emotional standpoint.
When I started school, I was first taught Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). There I learned how acupuncture/acupressure could affect the internal organs. TCM correlated emotions to organs and further to disease. My mind was opened and it has not closed since.
When I began working, I utilized everything I absorbed from school. My first challenge was my wife's gallstones. After hearing that there were "no alternative therapies" I used acupressure and altered our diet. After only one month, she felt no more pain around the gall bladder, and did not have pain when eating fatty foods. After this experience, I refuse to believe that any disease is untreatable.
I still experience amazing results with the integration of east and west therapies. After my son was born, I practiced acupressure on him as well. One moment that sticks in my mind, occured when he was crying, Inconsolable, I applied touch to points on his abdomen. Within 30 seconds his eyes slowly closed and he drifted off to sleep.
To give you one more story, my cousin's mother-in-law had a liver that was inflamed to twice its size, cholesterol at 500 and on hypothyroid medicine. Given a dim prognosis, she was terrified, her whole family was. After 3 weeks of CranioSacral treatment she went back for blood work; she was called in the next day to go over her results. The doctor told her he was looking at an angel. The changes in her blood work were "a miracle". Her cholesterol is 199, and her liver is 80% healed. The doctor said these changes take minimum 1 year in dedicated patients and that if they continue this way he is going to lower her hypothyroid medication. This one made all of us cry. She is now losing weight, able to exercise, and she is overall happier. The implications of this to save money in health insurance is incredible.
I read new books constantly, examining both the history of western and eastern medical philosophy, nutrition, and complementary alternative medicine. If you have any suggestions on MUST read books, I would love to hear from you. Email me through the "Contact Me" page.
